[RESUMEN ABSTRACT]

Alexander von Humboldt and Charles Darwin had mutual admiration for their respective works. Even though there is record they met once, the best evidence of their interaction is a series of 3 letters of which two are known, being these the only direct epistolary evidence of such interaction. Important facts on evolution and the mechanisms for upwelling and marine currents such as the Humboldt current itself are stated here. Herein, we stated such facts and discuss its significance.
