[RESUMEN] ABSTRACT

The Program of Computers in Education begins in 1993 as an initiative of the Government of the State of Mendoza, Argentina. The objective of the project is to incorporate the language and culture of computers in education. The project started by connecting 7 elementary schools and 8 high schools. Today, the project is responsible for 400 computer laboratories in schools thoughout the state. We discuss the challenges and accomplishments encountered during the 6 years of existence of the project.
