Diseño, Desarrollo y Evaluación de Video Juegos Portátiles Educativos y Autorregulados

[RESUMEN] ABSTRACT

This work is about the Design, Development and Evaluation of Educational Self Regulated Video Games for supporting the development of basic mathematics and reading skills for children of first and second grade using hand-held machines. We worked with 300 students from 6 schools spanning all socioeconomic groups, but favoring the lower levels. Additionally, we worked with 20 teachers and administrative faculty from the same schools. The most interesting result was the effect that the use of the tool had on children with learning problems. These children showed an improvement in their reading skills. Other important result is the tool's impact on motivation and concentration of the children. On the other hand, the teachers evaluated the tool in a positive way, distinguishing as innovative and complementary to the materials traditionally used by them in the classroom.
