[RESUMEN]ABSTRACT

  In a recently published document on the Internet titled Academic Ranking of World Universities, the authors, all faculty at the Shanghai Jiao Tong University, collected data about 2000 universities from nearly all countries. They ranked the top 500 according to their academic performance. Here, I attempt to summarize some aspects of the information found in the above mentioned web page and venture some personal comments on these results.
